Communication in design is expressed not only in personal space, it is all around in how you think and live in the world.

I believe architectural design is the ultimate form of emotional communication of a built environment. Design is an expressive way to make visual and nonverbal connection with friends, family, and the community around you. Without design the world would exist only in gray scale. It would be boring and lack individual expression. Design brings vitality to build environments encouraging people to connect and thrive. Environmental consciousness and utilizing sustainable materials in the design process allows for an added poignant connection to any project.

My personal mantra embraces a stewardship role in designing with an environmental consideration, preserving, reclaiming, and recycling whenever possible. It is a way to juxtapose design of modern and industrial while being conscious of sustainability. The foundation of my design style is creating a built environment with a raw, unfinished aesthetic while incorporating clean and modern elements to the space, thus melding the past with the future. Additionally, integrating various resources to create spaces that are environmentally and economically sustainable is of extreme importance. Incorporating design elements such as balance, form, emphasis, texture, and color inspire unity in my work.

Preservation principles are also near and dear to my heart. When I enter an old building of any kind I immediately think about the sentiment of the space, the craftsmanship, and function in a community setting. Sleek new buildings have a place, but I would argue they do not provide the same emotional connection of history and nostalgia.
